Comscentre Hits 2000 Site Milestone in Australia Post Network Transformation

Comscentre Hits 2000 Site Milestone in Australia Post Network Transformation

In under a year, Australian-owned MSP, Comscentre, has surpassed the halfway mark in rolling out Australia’s largest retail network.

MELBOURNE 7th September, 2020 – Comscentre, an Australian owned company specialising in enterprise-grade managed network and collaboration solutions, today announced it had surpassed the significant milestone of 2000 completed site upgrades in its rollout of the Australia Post network transformation.

The announcement comes just one year since Comscentre surprised the industry by announcing it had been awarded the landmark network upgrade and five-year managed services contract.

The contract included the installation and deployment of Cisco Meraki SD-WAN infrastructure and a transition of network connectivity across 4000 metro, regional and remote sites nationally.

In just 9 months, Comscentre has stood up data centres, conducted a successful pilot program and completed the upgrade and network transition of more than 2000 of the 4000 sites across Australia’s largest retail network.

The project is tracking ahead of schedule according to Comscentre, despite the very unique and unforeseen challenges presented by 2020.  Bushfires and a global pandemic have created a necessity for continual revision of site scheduling, as well as the introduction of COVID safe work practices and processes.

With every site cutover, Australia Post is benefitting from increased network resilience and uptime, as well as substantial reductions in ongoing network operating costs.  Australia Post is also benefitting from the increased network visibility and control made available through Comscentre’s internally developed enterprise network management platform; One Touch Control (OTC).

OTC was one of Comscentre’s key points of difference in securing the Australia Post project, due to the platform’s unique ability to amalgamate multi-vendor and multi-carrier connectivity into a single dashboard that monitors and reports on network performance, hardware health, carrier SLAs and best practice business processes.

Australia Post’s CIO Munro Farmer said the milestone was testament to lots of hard work, and even more impressive given the logistical issues and constraints of a pandemic.

“This has been a big effort for all of the teams involved, both across Australia Post and Comscentre, and speeding the cycle time has helped us just as we’re moving quickly to support parcel volumes, allowing us to stand up services much more quickly than we were previously able to,” said Farmer.

Comscentre Executive Director Cameron Quilty said this milestone is a particularly significant one for Comscentre for a couple of reasons.  “Of course, it represents the halfway point of what was, at commencement, the largest network deployment of its type in the world.  More importantly though, it’s also this great validation of Australia Post’s decision to place their trust in Comscentre for such a significant project.

“It’s no secret that the market was shocked when we announced we’d won this project, so it was hugely important to us that we demonstrate why we were successful, why Australia Post chose us – and here we are, half way through transforming Australia’s largest retail network, ahead of schedule and delivering substantial benefits to one of Australia’s most recognizable and most trusted brands,” he explains.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see the results we’re delivering for Australia Post,” he continues.  “With every SD-WAN/NBN network transition, we’re deliving a far more resilient national network with significant reductions in outages and greatly improved network-wide uptime.

“Perhaps the most rewarding thing for me personally though is the reduction in operating costs we’re creating for Australia Post as a result of this transition.  I can’t talk specifics, but it’s substantial.  That’s enabling greater investment back into the continued improvement of servies to rural and remote Australian communities, which is an incredibly positive outcome, particularly in times such as these when we’re all feeling more isolated than ever.”

Comscentre announced as finalist in 2020 ARN Innovation Awards

Comscentre announced as finalist in 2020 ARN Innovation Awards

Comscentre has been announced as a finalist in the 2020 ARN Innovation Awards, which play host to the most competitive and comprehensive selection of leading innovators across Australia.

The enterprise-grade managed network and collaboration solutions specialist was among over 180 organisations nominated in this year’s Awards, joining a stellar line-up of finalists in the category of Customer Value.

Comscentre Executive Director, Cameron Quilty, says to be nominated in the Customer Value category is testament to the commitment their team show in delivering exceptional value to every customer, every day.

“When a business essentially doubles in size from one year to the next, you generally expect to see some strains on the business, and in many cases the customer suffers,” he explains. “To be honoured in this way for the value our team continue to bring to our customers really highlights the laser focus and dedication we’ve had on our customers.”

Quilty says the gravitas of delivering superior value for customers is not lost on any of his team. He points to customer Australia Post as a prime example, saying “here’s a customer who themselves must deliver on a service promise to millions of Australians. Their ability to meet that promise relies on our ability to meet our own obligations”.

“There’s also this added sense of social responsibility to all the rural and remote Australian communities that rely on Australia Post as a central hub for communications, paritcualrly in times of increased isolation,” Quilty added.

Also announced as a finalist in this year’s Awards was Comscentre CTO, Geoff Tyerman, in the Personal Innovation category for Technical Excellence.

Tyerman, who leads Comscentre’s technology direction and selection, is also the technology visionary behind the development of Comscentre’s Enterprise Network Management Platform, ‘OTC’ – One Touch Control.

The platform, which has transformed the way Australian enterprises procure and mange network technologies and multi-carrier network environments has been Tyerman’s passion over the last decade.

“I’m excited to be nominated,” Tyerman confirms, adding “it’s great to see how our customers are using the platform to give real insights into the services Comscentre supplies.”

The Awards, now in their 14th year, celebrate and reward excellence in customer value and innovation across the Australian channel. Find the full line-up of finalists on the ARN website.

Cisco Meraki awards Comscentre APJC Growth Partner of the Year at its 2019 Partner Summit

Cisco Meraki awards Comscentre APJC Growth Partner of the Year at its 2019 Partner Summit

LAS VEGAS 14th November, 2019 – Comscentre, an Australian owned company specialising in enterprise-grade, managed network and collaboration solutions, has been awarded Asia Pacific, Japan and China (APJC) Growth Partner of the Year at Cisco’s 2019 Partner Summit in Las Vegas.

Comcentre was awarded the 2019 Growth Partner of the year based on significant year-on-year growth in the APJC region in large part due to winning a significant contract with Australia Post.

The contract includes a 5-year managed services and network transformation project, incorporating the roll out of Cisco Meraki SD-WAN infrastructure and the transition of network connectivity across more than 4,000 metro, regional and remote sites nationally. At the time of signing, it was the largest Cisco Meraki deployment of its type on the planet.

Comscentre’s success in the space can be attributed to an internally developed network management platform; One Touch Control (OTC). The platform has the unique ability to amalgamate multi-vendor and carrier connectivity into a single dashboard that monitors and reports on network performance, hardware health, carrier SLAs and best practice business processes.

The OTC platform offers customers a “single pane of glass view” of their entire network ecosystem, a unique competitive advantage in a congested market with complex multi-vendor technologies.

“Winning the Cisco Meraki 2019 Growth Partner of the Year award is a validation of our strategic approach to a highly competitive and complex market. Rapid change in the current Telco market has allowed Comscentre to leverage its agnostic approach to aggregating network services and 16 years of investment in the OTC platform. Our ability to manage complex, multi carrier environments, provides us a clear differentiator that is filling a void in the changing market,” said Cameron Quilty Executive Director, Comscentre.

“We’re thrilled to have been awarded the Cisco Meraki APJC Growth Partner of the Year for 2019. Comscentre made a strategic decision 5 years ago to align our SD-WAN product offering with Cisco-Meraki. That decision has resulted in the transformation of 2 of the largest networks in the country; Flight Centre and more recently, Australia Post.” said Cameron Quilty Executive Director, Comscentre.

Australia Post awards Comscentre 5-year managed services contract and network upgrade

Australia Post awards Comscentre 5-year managed services contract and network upgrade
In a David and Goliath showdown, Australian-owned Managed Services provider wins contract for Australia’s largest retail network.

MELBOURNE 7th August, 2019 – Comscentre, an Australian owned company specialising in enterprise-grade, managed network and collaboration solutions, today announced it has been awarded the contract for Australia Post’s forthcoming network upgrade and five-year managed services contract.

The project includes the roll out of Cisco Meraki SD-WAN infrastructure and a transition of network connectivity across more than 4,000 metro, regional and remote sites nationally.

The announcement comes after Australia Post went to market seeking a partner that could offer superior service delivery with a flexible, innovative and proven approach to transition and transformation.

Comscentre’s unique point of difference was an internally developed network management platform; One Touch Control (OTC). OTC has the unique ability to amalgamate multi-vendor and carrier connectivity into a single dashboard that monitors and reports on network performance, hardware health, carrier SLAs and best practice business processes. The platform will provide Australia Post with a single pane of glass view of the entire network ecosystem as it continues with international expansion and the rollout of new services to a broader market.

4 years ago, Comscentre partnered with Brisbane based RIoT Solutions to design and deploy what was at the time, the largest Cisco Meraki SD-WAN roll out its type in the country for Flight Centre Limited (FCL). The project included the transformation of 1,100 retail sites nationally and was completed within a nine month project timeframe. Comscentre went on to manage the multi carrier environment leveraging OTC as the underlying platform to drive greater visibility of network utilisation, carrier performance and hardware monitoring via a single dashboard approach. The two partners will again join forces to transform the largest retail footprint in the land for one of the countries most trusted brands; Australia Post.

“We are pleased to have Comscentre on board to help take our customer service and experience to a new level. Comscentre demonstrated a clear understanding of our vision for the future, and we look forward to expanding our capability with their expertise,” said John Cox, Chief Information Officer, Australia Post.

“The current Telco market represents a “Perfect Storm” for Comscentre given our agnostic approach to aggregating network services across all carriers coupled with 16 years of investment in the OTC platform. Our ability to manage complex, multi carrier environments, provides us a clear differentiator that is filling a void in the changing market,” said Cameron Quilty Executive Director, Comscentre.

“As the market embraces new technologies such as SD-WAN and the NBN, traditional legacy carriers with large sunk investments in ageing networks are experiencing declining returns, making it difficult for them to expand on or even support their current infrastructure. The result is reduced investment, resilience and increased outages. What has historically been a carrier’s greatest asset has become their greatest future liability with recent staff cuts across the country in the Telco sector testament to the challenges they face.”

“In contrast, Comscentre is uniquely positioned to run and manage multi-vendor, best-of-breed network ecosystems and services within a market facing intense pressure to maintain quality of service under rapidly changing conditions and competitive pressure.”

“The successful engagement with Australia Post endorses our approach. By leveraging the Australian government’s $50 billion investment in the nbn™ network, Cisco Meraki SD-WAN and OTC, Comscentre will provide Australia Post a managed, multi carrier network while supporting a fleet of 15,000+ devices across 4,000+ locations.”
